[Actual Test 14/12/2019] Task 1 – A Plan Of A City In 1950 And At The Present

The map shows how the city was developed in its size to accommodate more residents from 1950 and up to now.

In 1950, 20,000 people lived in this riverside city, including a business area and a residential area, in the north bank of the river, which runs from the south-east through the west of the map. A main road runs from north to south through the city, with another main road leading from west to east of the river where an airport located. There was a government building in the south of the river and a bridge to connect this building with business area.

Now, the population of this city grew to 200,000. For 50 years, the business district and housing estate have enlarged to occupy a larger area in both 2 side of the river. To the east of the river, a dam was constructed, and the airport was expanded. Also, a part of the river runs through the new city was converted into a lake to store water from dam. To the south of the city, there is a new government building while another road and bridge were erected to connect the south and the east of the city.
